11 people have died and 30 others remain missing following rainstorms that recently devastated parts of southwest China’s Chongqing Municipality on Tuesday. 11 coal miners are among the missing were buried by a landslide Monday morning in Yunyang county.
As many as 39 thousand people were evacuated due to landslides and flooding affecting over 1 million people throughout nine districts in the northeast according to the municipal government.
The heavy downpours and landslides cause over 2,200 houses to collapse and damaged over 2,500 others.
Beijing has been placed on storm alert as the rainstorms continue to batter the country causing widespread power outages and destruction.
