Spectacular Qiantang Tidal Bores In Jiaxing, China

The Qiantang tidal bores are a world-renowed natural wonder caused by the gravitational pull of the moon, and the funnel shape of Hangzhou Bay. The centrifugal force produced by the rotation of the earth and by the peculiar bottleneck of Hangzhou Bay makes it easy for th tidal bores to come in, but difficult to ebb, forming a spectacular wave scene. This year’s tidal bores are expected to come during the Mid-Autumn Festival.
